Technology, Impact, and Exit

Wiferion develops and sells highly efficient high-power wireless charging systems as well as battery modules for both industrial end-users and manufacturers of robots and other electric vehicles. But the potential of Wiferion goes far beyond being a leader in high-performance wireless charging. We believe that their innovative technology and strong capabilities can make Wiferion the true enabler of the electrified economy.

01
Impact factor
Wireless charging infrastructure enables electric trucks replacing fossil fuel industrial trucks. In-process-charging enables trucks that can only be fossil-based today, while also less vehicles and smaller battery sizes are needed.

Exited
Wiferion was exited to tesla in 2023
We received offers from several German investments funds – also at higher valuations, but we chose Nordic Alpha, as they fundamentally redefine the meaning of smart money, via their methodical strategy toolbox, intense hands-on approach already pre-investment and global outlook. For the founders of Wiferion it is not important what valuation we can get today, but which investor can best fuel our ambitions of taking Wiferion global.

Timeline

Wiferion went through a pivotal product re-design and cost-out exercise after Nordic Alpha invested, resulting in pronounced market capture after just a few quarters.

Early Engagement & Strategic Alignment (2018)

Nordic Alpha Partners identified Wiferion as a high-potential company in the rapidly growing electrification market. Through its proactive sourcing strategy, NAP engaged with Wiferion six months before investment, working closely with the team to define a scalable business strategy and eliminate competition.

Investment & Business Model Transformation (2019-2020)

NAP officially invested in Wiferion, securing a ~40% discount compared to competing market offers. Post-investment, NAP executed a full-scale corporate identity shift from a tech component supplier to a market leader in wireless charging. The team launched a cost-out & outsourcing program, reducing production costs to make Wiferion’s solution cost-competitive with cabled chargers.

Scaling & Market Domination (2021-2023)

Under NAP’s guidance, Wiferion secured major global customers, including BMW, Audi, Daimler, KUKA Robotics, and leading logistics companies. The company expanded from 5 to over 100 industrial design wins across 20+ countries. NAP also spearheaded the development of a vendor-agnostic software platform, positioning Wiferion as the standard for industrial wireless charging.

Exit to Tesla & Value Realization (2023)

Three years and nine months after investment, NAP executed a high-multiple exit to Tesla, selling 100% of its shares.

BCSA Model

We invested in Wiferion based on a strong BCSA case. The company brings a superior alternative to traditional industrial charging through its wireless, automated solution - improving uptime, reducing cost, and simplifying operations for fleet users. With a growing customer base, proven technology, and a scalable production model, Wiferion is positioned to become the global standard for wireless charging in industrial applications.

Better

Wiferion offers a high-performance wireless charging system designed for industrial vehicles such as forklifts, AGVs, and mobile robots. Unlike traditional plug-based systems, Wiferion’s solution allows for automated, contactless charging that can be embedded directly into vehicle operations, enabling in-process charging and significant uptime improvements. With support for a growing number of vehicle platforms and the launch of the etaHUB software, Wiferion is positioned to become the de facto standard for industrial wireless charging.

Cheaper

Wiferion’s system reduces operational costs by eliminating manual charging downtime and reducing maintenance associated with wear-prone connectors. It also allows for smaller batteries and optimizes charging windows, resulting in lower total cost of ownership for fleet operators. The platform is hardware-agnostic and adaptable to existing vehicles, reducing retrofit and integration expenses.

Simpler

The solution is plug-and-play for OEMs and end users, with easy installation and minimal training required. The addition of etaHUB, a centralized software platform, simplifies charger and fleet management, providing insights, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance capabilities. This transforms charging from a manual process into a fully automated and intelligent system.

Available

Wiferion’s technology has been adopted across 100+ vehicle platforms, with established commercial traction in both Europe and the US. The company has a scalable outsourced production setup, strong OEM partnerships, and a growing team focused on market expansion. With ongoing investments in product development and commercialization, Wiferion is well-positioned to scale globally and lead in its category.
